TOUR
DESCRIPTION
This
is a great way to begin your exploration of Bangkok, as you will be visiting
the true heart and soul of this sprawling Asian metropolis! On this tour, we
will collect you at your accommodation in Bangkok and immediately bring you to
the grandest temple and palace complex in the city as well as your first visit
of the day, 'The Grand Palace'. This sprawling and extraordinary structure was
designed to be the Royal Family’s main residence and it has seen several
additions being incorporated over the years. One notable addition is the
outstanding Wat Prah Kaew temple, which is the home of the iconic Emerald
Buddha, a remarkable Buddha image made from only one piece of jade! After our
visit to the Grand Palace visit, we will head to Wat Po, which is located
nearby. This temple is known through out the country for excellent Thai massage
school as well as for its huge reclining Buddha. We will have lunch in a nearby
restaurant before continuing the tour. We will begin the afternoon with a visit
to the mighty Chao Phraya River. After reaching the docks and boarding a long
tail boat, we will start a scenic ride along this magnificent river which
crosses the city. This will allow you to experience the river life and observe
Bangkok from a very different perspective. Your boat will eventually leave the
Chao Phraya River and you will travel through some of the narrow canals in
Thonburi, a suburb of Bangkok. You will get to enjoy a more quiet and
traditional way of life which is practiced today just a few kilometers from
Bangkok and its incessant hustle. After our return to the docks, we will
immediately step onto a river ferry and will reach Wat Arun which sits on the
other side of the Chao Phraya. This is one of Thailand’s most revered temples
and is even featured on its currency. You will walk on the grounds of the
temple and will be able to climb up the stupa and admire the panorama over the
surrounding area which gives a great view of the Chao Phraya. The last
destination of the day will be the busy neighborhood of Yaworat; visit
Bangkok’s infamous China Town by foot, a great opportunity to make a few purchases.
We’ll also drop in Wat Traimit which houses a solid gold Buddha. Following the
tour, you will be escorted back to your Bangkok accommodation.
