T112: Floating Market with Samphran Elephant Ground Tour Privately Escorted

Get ready bright and early, as we will start just after sunrise! You will begin your day by heading out to Damnoen Saduak, stopping on the way at the remarkable Mae Klong Railway Market as well as at a palm sugar home industry. You will then visit the Damnoen Saduak Flaoting Market where you get to catch all the sights and sounds of this world famous market. The afternoon hours will be spent in Samphran where Crocodile and Elephant shows will be presented for your entertainment.

Your tour will begin when our team will collect you from your hotel in Bangkok for an early morning start to this busy and colourful market. The early start is necessary as the road trip to Damnoen Saduak takes a little more than one hour and we want to make sure to catch all the colourful boats of this famous whimsical morning market. Before reaching Damnoen Saduak, we will make a stop at the interesting Mae Klong Train Market, where visitors can witness produce vendors set up their market stalls across the rail tracks of this fully working train line. Simply wait and witness a remarkable scene unfold as a scheduled train arrives through this market and vendors rush to pull back their stalls! Another stop before Damnoen Saduak will be at a wonderful little local factory that produces palm sugar. You will see the method used for this sugar and will be able to taste this wonderful treat as well as other candy made from it. We will finally reach the locality of Damnoen Saduak, where you will board an awaiting motorboat on which you will travel through a series of canals on the way to the floating market and you will be able to catch a glimpse of locals living around these waterways. You will disembark the motorboat at the floating market and will be free to journey into the area. Wander up and down the various canals and wooden piers, snapping pictures and exchanging with locals… Flag down boats loaded with produce and try some local specialties or simply sit at a café and watch all the action unfold in front of you. You may even rent a paddleboat and jump in the action! Following the Damnoen Saduak floating market, we will then head to the Samphran Elephant Ground, home to several elephants as well as a large number of crocodiles. Watch the trainers perform tricks adult crocodiles; one of those features a trainer putting his head into the gapping jaws of a fully-grown crocodile! For lunch, enjoy a sumptuous buffet meal featuring several Thai and International dishes. The afternoon will also present the opportunity to attend further animal shows, including an elephant show as well as a magic performance. This full day tour is a great day out for the family and offers something for everyone. At the end of the day, you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Bangkok.

Note - Sept 2013: Because of a train timetable change, it will be unlikely that the train will be passing through The Mae Klong Market while we will be there during this tour. The first train arrival has been pushed back later during the morning and this now interferes with our visit at the floating market since it is a unique morning experience. (We are keeping the train on the schedule for now and the market is still worth the visit as it is an interesting location.)
